Endometriosis & Endometrium

Welcome to the site of the Special Interest Group for Endometriosis & Endometrium (SIGEE) of the European Society for Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE)

Areas of interest

The SIGEE was created to bring together two disciplines of human reproduction that are partially related.

We are interested in the role of the endometrium in reproductive physiology and in gynaecological disorders like abnormal uterine bleeding. We will address the role of the endometrium in embryo implantation and in implantation failure, and the effects of endometriosis on implantation. Moreover, the characteristics of eutopic and ectopic endometrium in endometriosis are a field of research and interest. The SIGEE is interested in all aspects of endometriosis: pathogenesis, histogenesis, epidemiology, diagnosis, medical and surgical treatment, and social consequences of the disease and alternatives of treatment.

Mission statement

The SIGEE combines a basic and a clinical focus in research and training related to endometrioiss and endometriumfor those who are interested in the fields of endometrial physiology and pathology, biology of embryo implantation, basic and clinical aspects of endometriosis.

General Goals
