Learning objectives
By the end of this course, participants will:• Have a clear understanding of the principles that drive effective presentations• Have the tools to create and deliver engaging presentations• Improve their personal impact and ability to establish rapport• Increase their sensitivity to international audiences• Develop critical awareness of themselves as presenters
Please note that morning and afternoon sessions are two separate sessions and need to be booked separately. Places for the afternoon sessions are limited and will fill up fast!

MORNING SESSIONS: Principles and practice
The aim and audience: the key drivers of every presentation:
• Define your audience• Decide exactly what you want to achieve with your presentation
The presenter: how to establish yourself as presenter:
• body language• eye contact• hand gestures• dealing with nerves
The road map: how to structure a presentation:
• clear• easy to follow
Your voice: how to use it:
• projection• pausing• stress and intonation
Present with impact: how to ‘hook’ your audience:
• data & visuals• humour• case studies and stories

11:00 – 12:30
Continue MORNING SESSIONS: Principles and practice
Present data: how to make data speak clearly:
• PowerPoint or data dump?• impact with clear, simple slides• audience participation
Questions and Answers: how to handle them:
• prepare for Q&A• anticipate ‘hot’ questions• handle aggressive questions• check when meaning is not clear
Close your presentation:
• summarize• state your final message• make recommendations

AFTERNOON SESSIONS: prepare & give a short presentation
In this afternoon session you will build and deliver a five or six minute presentation based on a case study. You will be able to select from a choice of case studies developed by Dr. Ute Bunnenberg, our consultant, in consultation with ESHRE. Topics will be chosen to match participants’ interest, for example:
• innovations in infertility treatment;• individualized treatment in ART (Assisted Reproductive Medicine)
Alternatively, you are welcome to bring your own presentation. As the afternoon session is three hours long, we ask participants to bring very short presentations of no more than five or six minutes.
In the afternoon you will prepare a short presentation and give it at the end of the day. After that the colleagues in your group and an expert trainer will give you feedback.
Presentation part 1: an informal talk to the camera
• prepare to talk about a hobby or interest• talk to your small group for 60 seconds
Presentation part 2: the opening and core
• prepare your opening and core• present your opening and core • discuss the presentation in your group

The Closing: how to finish with a bang
• discuss how to finish your presentation• practice the closing with a partner
Presentation part 3: the final presentation
• practice your whole talk• give your final presentation• give and receive feedback on your presentations
