Below you will find information on abstracts submitted by country and region as well as the times and dates of the final poster discussions.
1,423 abstracts were received by the central office - a similar number to 2010. 254 of these abstracts were selected for oral presentation and 597 for poster presentation, compared to 239 and 590 respectively last year.
Together with the invited sessions, participants will have the possibility to hear over 300 presentations and see almost double as many posters in the poster village.
Oral presentations
70% of presentations are related to European abstracts, with most submissions coming from the UK, Spain, the Netherlands and France. Outside of Europe, the region North America with 22 abstracts is dominating. In the region Asia, Japan will hold 13 presentations (8, 2010), more than double the number compared to Chinese abstracts submitted and accepted.
Oral presentations - Europe
We accepted 6% more abstracts from Europe compared to last year. Denmark, France and Turkey are amongst the countries that submitted more abstracts. Most countries however showed very little change, except Spain which sticks out having 27 presentations compared to 19 in 2010.
With 10 abstracts, Denmark is the strongest Nordic country, closely followed by Sweden.
Poster presentations
The geographic distribution of posters showed a similar pattern. The majority of posters (63 %) came from Europe with Spain, Italy, the UK, Belgium and the Netherlands being the strongest countries. Belgium and Sweden showed the most marking increases with 29 posters (19, 2010) and 18 (6, 2010) respectively. Outside of Europe, Brazil will present 30 (19, 2010) and Japan 38 (39, 2010) posters.
With a mere 16 posters, the US will be underrepresented compared to previous years (44, 2010).

Poster discussions
