New ESHRE website

ESHRE begins the new decade in elegant style. ESHRE’s new website has been launched with a more advanced and modern layout and feel. A white, almost clean background, colours that identify each topic and the prominent ESHRE banner, give the new website a progressive and pristine look.

Navigation

Navigation within a page and from page to page is straightforward. The scroll down bar on the right (not anymore within the page itself) grants easy access to information at the bottom of each page and to the submenus on the left side. On the right side of each page direct links, downloadables and highlights are available. All links are clearly visible in the respective colour of the topic and are highlighted when the mouse scrolls over them. The login feature is prominent on the homepage. Pages can now be printed by clicking on the printing icon at the bottom of each page.

Headings and Tabs

One of the most important changes is the reduction of headings at the top to provide more valuable information adapted to the needs of our members. Important topics are now clustered into the following ten topics:

‘Home’, ‘Membership’, ‘Annual Meeting’, ‘Calendar’, ‘Specialty Groups’, ‘Accreditation & Certification’, ‘Guidelines & Legal’, ‘Press Room’, ‘ESHRE Community’ and ‘Publications’.

Some of these tabs have not changed and contain similar content to before. In the new tab ‘Specialty Groups’ you will find the Special Interest Groups, Task Forces, the Paramedical Group and the Data Collection Consortia. The tab ‘Publications’ contains all of ESHRE’s published sources such as the journals, Focus on Reproduction, the ESHRE Monographs and other important documents such as ESHRE’s position papers.

ESHRE Community

In our new interactive area ‘ESHRE Community’ different links will connect you to social networks. Several ESHRE groups have been active on the two network sites Facebook and Twitter.

The ESHRE group on facebook has generated 120 fans in just over 6 weeks. There is also an ESHRE group and an MHR picture library on twitter. Since November 2009 events are announced on both sites. Join us and become a fan of ESHRE!

The ESHRE Community page also gives you direct access to podcasts, webcasts, YouTube and other societies of reproductive medicine and science. Often highlights, breakthroughs in research and science and interviews will be posted as pod- or webcasts, so keep an eye out for new videos and other media files. You can also find other members, search for jobs, and take part in surveys initiated by ESHRE.

Any patient related pages have been transferred to Fertility Europe’s website fe, our official patient umbrella organisation for Europe.

News

During the last year we received many requests from members to access our ‘Headlines in reproductive medicine’ which contained the latest news from over 60 different media sources.

RSSYou can now subscribe to the ‘RSS feed for professionals in reproductive medicine’. The latest news will be shown on your computer as a separate list at your disposal. Just click on the RSS feed icon in the press room or here. This feature will give you a concise customised summary of newsworthy events in the field of reproductive medicine and science as depicted in the media and in scientific and medical journals.

ESHRE’s New Domain

Since 2010 EHRE’s domain name has changed to www.eshre.eu. In the Root Zone Database the domain .eu is defined as the ‘country code’ for the European Union. ESHRE as a true European umbrella organisation was not well defined by the domain .com which is a generic domain most often used for corporations. From 2011 the old domain www.eshre.com will cease to exist.

We hope that you will enjoy the new features and are looking forward to seeing many of you on ESHRE’s social networks, either tweeting away during the Annual Meeting or sharing your thoughts and ideas with us on facebook.
