This European project has been running from Oktober 2007 until December 2009 and will ensure the efficient exchange and integration of clinical and scientific data related to reproductive and genetic technologies. Using Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) and Screening (PGS) in a case study, the project will develop common terminologies which can be used in computerized data collection and monitoring systems. The same codes may also be applied to patient referrals in a field where cross-border movement of patients and their reproductive material is common. This work will be complemented with comprehensive reviews of current and best practice in data collection, monitoring and referral data, and by relevant legal and ethical issues. Having collated the results and developed an appropriate coding system, a pilot data collection study will be conducted which may be used in wider application within reproductive and genetic technologies, and in other areas of healthcare.

As a patient looking for PGD, it is not impossible that you will have to travel to other fertility centers than your home-based center. You may even have to go abroad to receive the specific treatment you are looking for. Please check the webpage of the PGD Consortium, which lists a number of PGD Centers and the treatments they offer. More information on fertility in Europe can also be found on the Fertility Europe website.
Furthermore, we added some documents that may be of help during your search for the correct treatment.
