Annemiek Nap was born in 1973. In 1999, she graduated from medical school (cum laude) in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. She did a PhD on the pathogenesis of endometriosis in Maastricht and defended her thesis on the pathogenesis of endometriosis in 2004. She was registered as a gynaecologist in 2009. She is working in Ziekenhuis Rijnstate in Arnhem and in the Radboud University and Medical Center in Nijmegen, as she is attracted to the combination of the hectic atmosphere of a peripheral hospital with the scientific ambition of a university hospital.
In her clinical as well as her scientific work she is focusing on fertility and endometriosis. Since 1999, she has been involved in studies on the pathogenesis of endometriosis, written a number of peer reviewed articles on this topic and an information book for endometriosis patients, and presented on national and international conferences. She is the first junior coordinator of the SIGEE. From 2011, she is associate editor of Human Reproduction.
