Current statutes

    1. The PGD Consortium of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology is an activity that takes place under auspices of the Special Interest Group Reproductive Genetics.
    2. The general aim of the PGD Consortium is to co-ordinate, promote and stimulate the development of PGD and to represent the common interests of all PGD centres in the world.
    3. Specific aims of the PGD Consortium are: 
      To survey the availability of PGD for different conditions facilitating cross-referral of patients.
      To collect prospectively and retrospectively data on the accuracy, reliability and effectiveness of PGD.
      To initiate follow-up studies of pregnancies and children born. To produce guidelines and recommended PGD protocols to promote best practice. 
       
    4. To formulate a consensus on the use of PGD. In order to prepare and complete the Annual Consortium Report, all PGD centres registered, as full members are obliged to report full information regarding referral, cycle, pregnancy and follow-up data.
    5. The anonymised data collection will be on-line at the ESHRE web-site. Until implementation of on-line data collection, data collection is performed through e-mail.
    6. All full members have access to the database via their data-managers, who are appointed as such by their group. Data managers must be ESHRE members in view of complete access via the ESHRE web site.
    7. Each year a meeting of the PGD Consortium will be organised by the Steering Committee.
    8. The Steering Committee will invite all full and associate members to attend the annual meeting and to take part in the discussions and decision- making.
    9. Decisions on members are formally taken at the annual meeting. New members are proposed by the Steering Committee.
    10. Each year two of the Steering Committee members need to be replaced or re elected. The full members have the right to put forward nominations. The candidate is chosen by secret majority vote.
