 Helpful couple counselling strategies (III)
Prepare roadmaps and attune them
Aim: To control what can be controlled in this potentially uncontrollable life crisis
Flowcharts including the different options (no pregnancy, miscarriage, life birth) are key elements of the roadmap
Develop "plan B", "plan C" etc. from the beginning on Each partner writes his/her roadmap first, then the two
roadmaps have to be merged and attuned
Roadmaps can be rewritten if applicable (e.g. after the first

   Case E: Couple with stillbirth after ART
"Another woman,who had experienced a stillbirth, also felt that she no longer knew her husband to be the man she had married. After returning from the hospital, she retired to the bedroom, shut the blinds, and attempted to blot out the world, when she heard some loud banging coming from another part of their house. Her husband had decided to begin renovating the kitchen. Although they had discussed plans for it before, at that particular moment it was the furthest thing from her mind; she was furious and felt he was being completely
insensitive to her needs.“
