SIGA

Dear colleagues and friends,

One of the challenges that you have set SIG Andrology is to communicate more with you throughout the year and help keep you up-to-date with Andrology related items.

A good way to find out more about our activities is to keep an eye on our section of the ESHRE Website. Here for example you will find information on our forthcoming IUI course that will run in Antwerp in November.

We are also going to start to highlight to you relevant papers that are emerging from the ESHRE Journals, with a particular focus on those that are Open Access, so you can easily share them with friends and colleagues, and if you wish discuss them on social media.

Human Reproduction Update has just published two key papers around semen analysis and sperm count:

“The diagnosis of male infertility: an analysis of the evidence to support the development of global WHO guidance – challenges and future research opportunities”
https://doi.org/10.1093/humupd/dmx021

“Temporal trends in sperm count: a systematic review and meta-regression analysis”
https://doi.org/10.1093/humupd/dmx022

In Human Reproduction recent papers transitioning to open access include:

“Shorter anogenital distance correlates with the severity of hypospadias in pre-pubertal boys”
https://doi.org/10.1093/humrep/dew115

“TET enzymes are successively expressed during human spermatogenesis and their expression level is pivotal for male infertility”
https://doi.org/10.1093/humrep/dew096

“International Committee for Monitoring Assisted Reproductive Technologies world report: Assisted Reproductive Technologies 2008, 2009 and 2010”
https://doi.org/10.1093/humrep/dew082
(At the time this paper led to discussion of the overuse of ICSI)

And changing to Open Access from HRU:

“Gamete activation: basic knowledge and clinical applications”
https://doi.org/10.1093/humupd/dmw014

“Male psychological adaptation to unsuccessful medically assisted reproduction treatments: a systematic review”
https://doi.org/10.1093/humupd/dmw009

The committee are always keen to hear more from you about what you would like to see organised, so please feel free to get in contact by e-mail.

Best wishes on behalf of the entire committee,

Jackson
Coordinator SIG Andrology
