Credit cards - most hotels, restaurants and shops in Barcelona accept major credit cards.

 

Banks and exchange foreign currency - this service is available at all bank offices. Banks usually only open from Monday to Friday from between 08:00 and 08:30 to 13:30 or 14:00. You may also ask at your bank if they are represented in Barcelona and which opening hours they have. It is also available at currency exchange shops at all major cities, as well as in the main hotels and travel agencies.

The electric current in Spain is 220V, and a two-pin plug is used.

No special vaccinations are required when travelling to Spain.

Normal check-in time at hotels is 3 pm. The checkout time is 12 o’clock noon

Sales tax (VAT) is included in prices quoted.

You are entitled to claim a VAT refund on goods purchased in Spain if you meet the following criteria.

  1. Your domicile (permanent residence) is outside the European community
  2. You spend more than €90.15 on your items
  3. You intend to take the items back to your country. This therefore excludes restaurant and hotel bills and general food
  4. You have all the correct paperwork completed - this is provided by shops that run the Tax Free Shopping Scheme - look for their logo in the shop window or ask in the shop (some shops do not run the tax free scheme)

    Innova Tax Free, Global Blue, Premier Tax Free and Travel Tax Free cheques are accepted.

Smoking is strictly forbidden within the Palexpo in all session halls, lobbies and other areas during ESHRE 2017 and id generally forbidden in all enclosed areas when these are open to the public or serve as a workplace for more than one person. Hence it is also forbidden to smoke in restaurants, public buildings, offices and on public transport.

The time zone in Spain is Central European Time CET, 1 hour ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT +1).

It is the sole responsibility of the attendee to take care of his/her visa requirements. Attendees who require an entry visa must allow sufficient time for the application procedure. Attendees should contact the nearest embassy or consulate to determine the appropriate timing of their visa applications. If you need a visa please make sure you leave enough time to apply and to have the relevant letters.

ESHRE will only send invitation letters for visa to registered participants.
