    How Do ROS Form in Mitochondria?
• Normally O2 is reduced to H20 through redox reactions
• ~ 0.1–2% of electrons passing through the chain oxygen is prematurely and incompletely reduced to give rise to superoxide radical (*0‐2)
• Thepronatedformhydroxyperoxyl(HO*)inactivates enzymes or initiate lipid peroxidation
