Development of a Lifestyle Modification RCT
• Example #3
• A patient with PCOS randomized to the attention-control group has a BMI of 29 kg/m2. She does not understand why she has not lost a significant amount of weight over the past 3 months. She eats salads everyday and only drinks diet soda most of the time. Every time she plans to start exercising, she has never followed through. She is now frustrated and wants to give up.
• How is applying an attention-control intervention different from administering usual care with this patient?
