 Summary
• Gold standard in infertility counselling should be couple counselling
• Offering it on a low-threshold basis facilitates its acceptance by both partners of the infertile couple.
• Make information brochures and information on websites available which explicitly address the psychosocial aspects of infertility and of ART as they are typically experienced by men
• Fertility staff should not address the man as the “patient’s companion” but value both partners on equal terms
