Part 1: Ovarian Endometrioma

In addition to existing guidelines on endometriosis management, a working group of the European Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy (ESGE), the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE), and the World Endometriosis Society (WES) provides a series of recommendations on the practical aspects of the different surgical procedures for the treatment of endometriosis. The first document in this series focusses on Ovarian Endometrioma.

Part 2: Deep Endometriosis

In addition to existing guidelines on endometriosis management (currently under revision), a working group of the European Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy (ESGE), the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE), and the World Endometriosis Society (WES) have prepared a second paper in a series of recommendations on the practical aspects of the surgical procedures for the treatment of endometriosis that describes surgery for deep endometriosis.

This paper covers technical aspects of different methods of surgery for deep endometriosis in women of reproductive age, starting from preoperative assessments and first steps of surgery. Different approaches for surgical treatment are discussed respective of location and extent of disease; uterosacral ligaments and rectovaginal septum with or without involvement of the rectum, urinary tract or extrapelvic endometriosis. In addition, recommendations are provided on treatment of frozen pelvis and on hysterectomy for deep endometriosis.
