 Come on, it’s just a flu!
In the UK between 2009 and 2012, common flu was the cause of death for 36 women who died during pregnancy or shortly afterwards. It is estimated that half of these deaths could have been prevented by flu vaccination.
 Viral pneumonia during pregnancy is life threatening
Pneumonia is the most common complication of varicella-zoster infection in adults and has devastating effects when complicating pregnancy with significant morbidity and mortality. A small number of cases can be analyzed in the literature making difficult to assess the role of immune system and that of pulmonary function during pregnancy as factors influencing maternal outcome.
