   Vaccinations during pregnancy
Before vaccinating during pregnancy, the following questions should be answered:
• Doesthepregnantwomenneedthevaccinationand will it benefit her?
• Does vaccination of pregnant women entail any risk for her?
• Will vaccination of the pregnant women be beneficial for the fetus?
• Will vaccination of the pregnant women entail any risk for the fetus?
  Benefit of maternal vaccination (MV)
Benefit for mother when pregnant women (PW) compared to non‐PW are more:
– Susceptible to infections (e.g. malaria, listeriosis, and possibly HIV)
– More prone to develop severe post‐infection outcomes (e.g. Flu, hepatitis E)
Benefit for child:
• MV has a favorable impact on early children morbidity and mortality for some infections (RSV, pertussis, Flu).
• According to WHO, approx 40% of global children deaths occur to neonatal period and many of them are caused by infections that can be prevented by vaccination
