  2. Allocation concealment
• Do not confuse with blinding during the study!
• Concealment means that when a person is recruited to the study, no-one can predict which group they will be allocated to
• Ensures the strict implementation of the random sequence • Without concealment, this is not a randomised trial.
• Participants are effectively selected into groups.
• For example, if random allocation list is posted on the clinic wall then everyone knows what is coming next (treatment or control). So can pick a patient who they think ‘should’ be in the treatment group (say).
