 Ovarian cancer – survival
 Worldwide approximately 225,500 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer annually
 75% diagnosed at Stage III and IV
 5 year Disease free survivors (DFS) 14 ‐ 18%
 70% will relapse and die
 Pelvic Serous Carcinomas (PSC) are originate mainly in the fimbriated end of fallopian tube Prophylactic salpingectomy could prevent development of PSC
 Randomized data do not yet support routine screening for ovarian cancer in the general population
 Routine screening is not currently recommended by any professional society
