PNT – Clinical treatment
Human Fertilisation & Embryology Authority (HFEA) regulate IVF-related procedures in the UK
- Permitted only for women who have a significant risk of passing on serious mitochondrial DNA related diseases to their child
- HFEA approves each case before PNT treatment
- Patients informed that PNT is likely to reduce risk but cannot guarantee prevention
- Antenatal screening is encouraged - Follow-up studies of children born
