Information for exam applicants

The online application period for the 2026 exam will be open from 15 January 2026 (13:00 CET) until 31 March 2026 (13:00 CEST).


In summary, please find below the key criteria:

ESHRE Embryology Certification is only available to active ESHRE members. Please ensure your membership is active during the application process until publication of results.

To become an ESHRE member, please go to our website and login to your account.

If you don’t have an account in our database yet, please create one here first. You will receive your login details by e-mail.


  • Your academic qualification (diploma/degree) must be validated by NUFFIC prior to submitting your application.

  • Please note that there is a fee of 50 Euros (excl. VAT) for validation.

  • Applications for Nuffic validation can be submitted at any time via https://aqv.eshre.eu/. Please note that the process to obtain Nuffic validation can take up to 6 weeks.

  • Once your degree/s has/have been validated, you can proceed to Step 2.

  • Please refer to our Rules & Requirements to complete your exam application. The version for the 2026 exam will be available by the end of November.

  • Applicants will be informed by the end of June 2026 whether their application to sit the exam has been accepted or not.

  • The next online Embryology (basic & advanced level) exam will be held on Friday 23 October 2026.

A total maximum of 420 applicants can be accepted to sit the 2026 exam. If the maximum number of applications is reached before the deadline, fully completed electronic applications will be added to the waiting list. Declined or cancelled applications will be replaced by applications from the waiting list until 15 May 2026.

The Clinical Embryology Certification Committee does not organise or endorse any preparatory course for the ESHRE Clinical Embryology exam.
