You are required to hold a GESEA ECRES Level 1 Certificate, which is mandatory to access Level 2 (unless you qualify for a formal bypass based on documented surgical experience, see gesea.eu/pathways/ecres).
To obtain the GESEA ECRES Level 2 Certification, you need to complete three key steps: theoretical preparation, practical training, and final assessment.
First, you must enrol in the GESEA ECRES Level 2 e-learning programme on the following website academy.esge.org/p/gesea-ecres-pathway-level-2 which provides more in-depth theoretical knowledge in areas such as advanced endoscopic techniques, instrumentation, anatomy, and complication management. Completion of this module and obtaining the Level 2 e-learning certificate is required before applying for the certification exam.
In parallel, you are expected to develop your advanced psychomotor skills through hands-on training using GESEA training tools (laparoscopy and hysteroscopy simulators). This can be done at your local institution, in accredited GESEA training centres, or during official courses and congresses.
Once adequately prepared, you can register for a GESEA Level 2 certification session at an accredited centre or during an official GESEA event or during the ESHRE annual congress. The certification consists of:
- a theoretical exam (TESTT2) with multiple-choice questions
three practical exams:
- LASTT2 (laparoscopic skills)
- SUTT2 (suturing skills)
- HYSTT2 (hysteroscopic skills)
Successful completion of these components leads to the GESEA ECRES Level 2 Certificate.
