My name is Maria José Mendiola. I greet you from Lima, Peru I’m a gynecologist, specialized in reproductive medicine and reproductive genetics. Since I was little, I dreamed of being a scientist and had the intuition that it was going to be a long road.
It all started 10 years ago, when I finished my undergraduate degree in medicine in my country. Then, I did the specialty of Gynecology and Obstetrics for 3 years at the Rebagliati Hospital, considered a benchmark in Peru. During my last year of the specialty, my interest and enthusiasm for reproductive medicine began, so I started training and received an honorable mention in Latin America. I have been certified in reproductive genetics for 3 years now, I consider it my passion, as well as scientific research.
I am currently on the last stretch to obtain a master's degree in Human Genetics (Peru), and in Social Communication of Science (Spain) to have better dissemination tools. My next dream is to pursue a Phd in Reproductive Genetics ... I love stem cells and mitochondria!
I am very excited and thankful to have been selected as a Young ESHRE Ambassador for the first time, and I will endeavor to provide you with updates during this great event.
My passion for science can be summed up in this great phrase: "If science doesn't communicate, it doesn't exist."
