Course description

Efficient embryo selection is a crucial step for the successful outcome of an IVF/ICSI cycle. In addition to morphology grading, several approaches are currently available in the IVF laboratory for the evaluation of embryo viability and developmental competence, including time-lapse technology, invasive and non-invasive methods. This course will review the principles, efficacy, safety and indications for the use of these approaches, presenting the latest published data.

Target audience

Embryologists, lab technicians, clinicians

Educational needs and expected outcomes

Various methods are currently available for the selection of embryos during fertility treatment. These methods are used with variable success, and a comprehensive review of current evidence is necessary to improve the knowledge and understanding of clinical embryologists.

At the end of this workshop the participants will have acquired the latest knowledge on the principles, efficacy, safety and indications for the use of several embryo selection approaches currently available, including time-lapse technology, invasive and non-invasive PGTa, FLIM, metabolomics, and lessons from time-lapse that can be applied to static embryo observation.

Innovative aspects

The participants will have the opportunity to interact with the speakers, who are all experts in their field, in an informal and direct fashion.
