We will focus on current and emerging technologies used to study embryo implantation events and endometrial biology. We bring together a multidisciplinary course focusing on novel stem-cell based embryo models, endometrial organoids, animal-based approaches, bioengineering and single cell omics. Stem-cell based embryo models have been shown to recapitulate several aspects of peri-implantation development and hold vast potential for both human developmental biology and understanding various etiologies associated with infertility. Concurrent to scientific innovations, we also consider the extent to which the use of embryo models may raise ethical concerns typical of human embryo research.
Professionals dealing with different aspects of early human development and implantation, including gynaecologists, ART clinicians, embryologists, clinical and laboratory scientists and stem cell researchers.
The course will cover currently trending state-of-the-art technologies, relevant for both developmental biology and stem-cell research. Successful implantation and normal post-implantation development remain limiting factors for improving ART outcomes. By delivering key insights into these processes, we hope to encourage the ART community to embrace such research approaches as a valuable foundation for evidence-based clinical practice.
