Course description

This course, organised by the Special Interest Group “Endometriosis and Endometrial Disorders”, is aimed at clinicians, clinical researchers, basic scientists and patient associations with an interest in uterine fibroids and sarcomas. It will combine expertise from the fields of uterine fibroids and sarcoma to provide an update on current knowledge regarding epidemiology, diagnostic methods, management of malignant conditions, surgical and medical treatments, underlying pathogenic mechanisms, and novel approaches and translational research.

Clinicians, clinical researchers, basic scientists and patient associations with an interest in uterine fibroids and sarcomas.

 

Educational needs and expected outcomes

New developments in the management of these conditions have emerged over the last few years. These developments should be brought to the attention of professionals working in the field.

At the end of this workshop the participants will:

  1. Be acquainted with basic epidemiology, diagnosis and classification
  2. Be aware of the risk of malignancy and how to manage this
  3. Have insights on the basic molecular aspects underlying the disease
  4. Be aware of the current medical and surgical management

 

Innovative aspects

State of the ART medical, surgical, diagnostic and molecular mechanisms underlying the conditions will be overviewed, which represent the innovative aspect.
