Course description
This advanced course is aimed at the experienced professional working in an assisted conception clinic or laboratory. Meeting with patients who are well researched in the treatment that they feel they would like to choose, can be challenging. This course will allow the professional to step back, reflect and develop strategies for helping patients “Draw the line".

Target audience
Clinicians, scientists, nurses, midwives, psychologists and counsellors working in assisted conception centre.

Educational needs and expected outcomes

The continual development of assisted conception technologies has led to an array of treatment choices for people seeking treatment. Patients arrive in fertility clinics with their own ideas about what they want and why. Often to be met with a veritable shopping list of treatments or adjuncts which often come with a hefty price tag.
This course will allow clinicians, scientists, nurses, midwives, psychologists and counsellors working in a centre to stop and reflect on their clinical practice and to think about the relevance of treatment for the individual patient sitting in front of them. Just because we can do something doesn’t always mean that we should. Maybe we should “draw the line”.
