Course description

This course addresses the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in assisted reproductive techniques and the IVF laboratory. We will approach the real and current use of AI in the IVF laboratory, its advantages and disadvantages, as well as the ethical limits that arise in its use in each of the fields in which this technology advances.

Target audience

Clinical Embryologists, laboratory practitioners, clinicians, nurses/midwives

Educational needs and expected outcomes

Participants attending this event are expected to learn about AI implementation in terms of efficiency and practical and ethical coherence. They will also be able to know about its beginning, evolution and future applications.

By the end of the course, participants will have the latest knowledge on:

  • Understand the evidence base to support IA
  • Assessment of the application of AI for optimal sperm selection
  • Understanding the application of AI in the IVF lab in: Oocyte evaluation and automatic insemination (ICSIA), embryo selection and cryopreservation
  • Understanding the role of IA for scientific and clinical communication
  • Understanding the role of IA in the selection of genetically compatible gametes
  • Evaluate the accountability and responsibility of AI algorithms
  • Assessment of the ethical concerns related to AI in healthcare
