Course description

Advances in reproductive science have challenged certain long-held dogmas in the field of clinical embryology such as culture media norms and sperm parameters. This course will explore some of these evolving concepts and recent discoveries around gametes and embryos with the aim of improving success rates in the lab.

 

Target audience

Embryologists, andrologists, clinicians, nurses, technicians, researchers and other personnel involved in reproductive medicine and ART.

 

Educational needs and expected educational outcomes

This course is designed to update embryologists and scientists on the latest advancements in medically assisted reproduction and reproductive and developmental biology. Currently held principles will be explored as well as recent scientific developments that impact daily laboratory practices. The main topics will beculture media; gamete handling and evaluation; insemination techniques; embryo selection and assessment; and embryo transfer protocols.

By the end of this course, participants should be equipped to improve outcomes in their professional practice through an understanding of the latest scientific developments relevant to IVF labs.

 

Innovative aspects of the course

Participants will benefit from a comprehensive programme that covers key areas of laboratory practice in an interactive and accessible format. In addition, the programme will include a dedicated session for research presentations selected through abstract submission, offering an opportunity to share and discuss current scientific work.
