Course description
This workshop provides a focused, practice-oriented exploration of recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL), combining lectures with guided clinical discussions. Key challenges in (recurrent) pregnancy loss diagnosis and management will be covered including genetic, anatomical, endocrine, immunological and male factor causes.
Target audience
Clinicians, embryologists, geneticists, nurses, midwives, psychologists
Educational needs and expected educational outcomes
Clinicians often face RPL cases that fall outside standard diagnostic categories. This is complicated by inconclusive results, uncertain interpretations, multifactorial presentations, patient expectations, and limited consensus on interventions. The workshop will attempt to address these issues by analysing complex cases and refining evidence-based diagnostic and management strategies.
After the workshop, participants will be able to evaluate complex RPL cases using integrated clinical and diagnostic data; identify red flags and prioritise tests when results are unclear; and distinguish effective, evidence-based interventions from low-value ones. They will gain the knowledge to develop personalised, evidence-based management plans and to apply insights from expert case discussions to their clinical practice. Participants will also be able to communicate uncertainty and support shared decision-making with patients.
Innovative aspects of the course
With a focus on controversies and evolving evidence, the course will be presented in an engaging format with short lectures, expert insights, interactive discussions and case histories. It will demonstrate how to translate complex research into everyday clinical decisions and provide an overview of ready-to-use diagnostic and management algorithms for RPL.
