Abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB) can significantly affect a woman’s health and quality of life. This two-day workshop will explore the complex causes behind the condition and its management beyond hysterectomy. Experts will review the role of endometriosis, fibroids, ovulatory disorders and other factors in AUB, while highlighting new technologies and models for studying heavy periods.
Target audience
Gynaecologists and reproductive medicine specialists; clinicians managing abnormal uterine bleeding and related disorders; researchers in endometriosis; endometrial and myometrial biology trainees; and fellows in reproductive medicine.
Educational needs and expected educational outcomes
There is a need to reduce variation in diagnostic and treatment approaches and integrate emerging technologies into research and practice.
By the end of this course, participants will understand the molecular, endometrial, myometrial, and systemic factors that contribute to AUB. They will recognise the impact of endometriosis, adenomyosis, fibroids, and polyps on menstrual disorders.
Another expected outcome from the course is that participants will gain the skills to evaluate the role of ovulatory disorders and coagulopathies in heavy menstrual bleeding. Participants will leave with the ability to apply evidence-based strategies to reduce unnecessary hysterectomies and optimise patient care across the reproductive lifespan.
