Learning objectives

General knowledge about uterus transplantation;

  • absolute uterine factor infertility indications (including uterine malformations) for uterus transplantation 
  • screening procedures of recipients and donors, both living and deceased
  • basic surgical techniques: steps of living donor hysterectomy by laparotomy and robotics
  • basic surgical techniques: steps of transplantation by laparotomy
  • global figures concerning surgical outcomes including bleeding, surgical time, and complications 
  • reproductive outcomes such as IVF, live birth rate, obstetrical outcome

Course description

The course will provide an overview on the global activity and outcomes of uterus transplantation as an infertility treatment for absolute uterine factor infertility. Detailed description of the essential surgical steps in live donor hysterectomy and uterus transplantation will be provided.

Target audience

Gynaecologists with special interest in reproductive surgery, and subspecialists in Reproductive Medicine and IVF
