Humans of ESHRE
Julia Uraji was ESHRE Young Ambassador this year in Vienna. She proposed to initiate a project based on her passion for science communications and her talent for photography: Humans of ESHRE. Over the next 10 days, you can discover the people that Julia met at the Annual Meeting and who told her the stories that led them to be part of the fantastic community of human reproduction professionals. A very human insight into the ESHRE community.
"Since starting my studies in biomedical sciences, I have always been passionate about science communication. Scientists are portrayed in movies and the media as quite one-dimensional, and I want to challenge that notion. Being a big fan of Brandon Stanton's Humans of New York blog, I first had the idea to do a sort of "Humans of Science" project a few years ago, as part of organising the March for Science in Göttingen. We had some success, but I thought it would be even better with a bigger, more interdisciplinary audience. So when I heard about the chance to be a Young Ambassador at this year's ESHRE, I thought it would be the perfect chance to do a similar project. We can always look up the impressive CVs of medics, scientists, and nurses - but I want this Humans Of ESHRE series to be about creating a sense of human connection, to focus on what we have in common."
