The course will provide the most up-to-date information on the endocrinology of the luteal phase, the functional histology of the endometrium, diagnostic tests of endometrial receptivity, new drugs for luteal phase support, luteal phase manipulations to increase ovarian response, and adjuvant treatments at the time of embryo implantation.

Course objectives

  • To understand clinical best practice in luteal phase support and the underlying science and knowledge of the normal luteal phase
  • To discuss the current status of innovative concepts and experimental clinical interventions in the luteal phase
  • To understand the clinical utility of endometrial receptivity testing
  • To identify future research needs

By critically reviewing the existing literature as well as emerging concepts, the course will provide guidance for ART practitioners and clinical scientists.

The physiology of the luteal phase has implications not only for embryo implantation but also for the course of the following menstrual cycle. In recent years the luteal phase has been the focus of a growing number of research activities, with special focus on luteal support in ART treatment cycles
