Course description
This Campus workshop aims to provide updated information and balanced discussion on the new challenges in third-party reproduction and their implications for clinical practice and counselling. The course will address: i) information provision to donors and recipients in the face of current technologies and regulation, including known and open donation; ii) current and possible future scenarios of family configurations with ART; iii) psychosocial adjustment and ethical dillemas for donor-conceived families and offspring.
Target audience
All clinicians, counsellors, scientists, IVF laboratory technicians and paramedicals interested in infertility treatment.
Expected educational outcomes
This course should provide participants with good practice and updated understanding regarding: a) information needs of donors and recipients in light of recent technology; b) suitability for gamete donation; c) patient communication about the implications of third-party reproduction, including open and intra-familial cases; d) the meaning of (biological and social) parenting and new family configurations; e) current ethical dilemmas related to donor conceived children and adults and evidence on psychosocial adjustment
